 "City of Ember" (2008) is a science fiction adventure film based on the novel by Jeanne DuPrau. The story is set in a dystopian future where humanity lives in a vast underground city called Ember, built to protect its inhabitants from an unspecified disaster on the surface. The city's founders designed Ember to last 200 years, after which its residents were supposed to return to the surface.
